Giotto Multicolor Camera clear filter image of the nucleus of Halley's comet taken from a distance of 20,160 km about 5 minutes before closest approach. Closest approach occurred 14 March 1986 at 00:03:02 UT at a distance of 596 km. The nucleus is about 16 x 8 x 8 km in size. Halley has an orbital period just over 76 years and will return in 2062.
