Mars - Viking 2 Orbiter
Biblis Patera volcano, Mars
The small Martian volcano Biblis Patera is shown in this
Viking 2 Orbiter image. The diameter of the exposed portion
is about 100 km. Truncation of the flow features on the
volcano's flanks by surrounding plains material indicates
that part of the edifice is buried. Note the circular
faults surrounding the caldera. North is at ~11:30 in this
image, which is about 200 km across.
