Earth's Moon
Apollo 12 lunar module pilot Alan Bean steps from the ladder of the lunar module (LM) onto the Moon's surface, becoming the 4th person to set foot on the Moon. The LM had landed at 06:54:35 UT (1:54:35 a.m. EST) and commander Charles "Pete" Conrad, who took this picture, had stepped out on the Moon at 11:32:35 (6:32:35 a.m. EST). Bean is shown here about 30 minutes later. This was the first of two moonwalks for the Apollo 12 astronauts. The image is looking southeast. (Apollo 12, AS12-H-46-6729)
