Earth's Moon - Apollo 12

Humboldt crater on the Moon

Earth's Moon
This photograph was taken from Apollo 12 in orbit about the Moon. The view is looking to the southeast into the 189 km diameter Humboldt crater located at 27 S, 81 E. The central peaks of the crater can be seen at the middle of the frame. They are bright white because of the high Sun angle. Arcuate and linear features and small craters can be seen in the floor of Humboldt. On the horizon is the 122 km diameter Abel crater. (Apollo 12, AS12-H-50-7416)
