Neptune's Rings - Voyager 2

Raw image showing Neptune's Laeverrier and Adams rings

Neptune's Rings
Voyager 2 wide-angle image showing Neptune's rings. The inner visible ring is the Leverrier ring, which orbits about 28,400 km above Neptune's equator. Outside is the Adams ring, 38,200 km from Neptune. The 3 ring arcs are at the top of the image. The rings circle clockwise, the longest arc is the trailing one. Neptune is at lower right, and the sun is behind and below the rings. The resolution of this 111 second exposure is roughly 80 km/pixel. (Voyager 2, 11412.51)
