Mars - Viking 1 Lander

Viking 1 Lander High Resolution Mosaic of Chryse Planitia on Mars

Mars
This mosaic of Chryse Planitia was created using frames taken by the Viking 1 Camera 1 in the early morning (roughly 7:00 - 8:00 a.m. local time). The low light angle highlights details in the scene. The scene extends 342.5 degrees in azimuth, centered roughly due east towards the Sun, and from about 5 degrees above the horizon to 60 degrees below. The black boulder near the center of the frame is about 3 meters across and roughly 8 meters from the spacecraft. (Viking 1 Lander, 11a022_mos)
