These experimenter-supplied, relative crustal and atmospheric velocity components data are on EBCDIC magnetic tape created on an IBM 360 computer. Each 80-byte card image record contains time of reception of the Probe signal at the Canberra tracking station, expressed as seconds since zero hours UTC December 9, 1978; Cartesian components of the velocity of the Probe relative to the crust of the planet in m/s; and two of the three Cartesian components of the velocity of the Probe relative to the ambient atmosphere in m/s. These components were derived by theoretical calculation involving the aerodynamic drag, the gravitational, and the inertial forces acting on the Probe. These data are on the Composite Data (CD) tape (which contains data from many experiments) created by the Unified Abstract Data System (UADS).
