The Mars Color Composites are high-resolution computer mosaics of selected areas on Mars. The mosaics are produced by multiplying low-resolution color ratios with high-resolution monoscopic mosaics from Viking Orbiter images. Point perspective geometries were preserved in the enhanced three-color mosaics. Included in these mosaics are Candor Chasm, areas in the vicinity of Mangala Valles, and a nearly full global view of Mars centered on Valles Marineris. These are the original versions of a group of press release photos released by the Viking project.
