Mars Orbiter Camera Standard Data Product Image Archive in Compressed Format (PDS)

Description

This data set consists of images stored on CD from the science mapping phase returned by the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) on the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) as part of the MOC Standard Data Product (SDP) archive. The first two volumes are the fixed high gain antenna images and cover the period from 1999-03-09 to 1999-03-27. The image data are compressed and stored with PDS labels. Decompression software is included on the CD for Windows and Unix machines, there is no decompression software provided for Macintosh.

Processing of the images included packet decommutation, removal of the MOC communications protocol headers, reformatting, and addition of PDS label information. No additional geometric or radiometric processing was done. The CD also contains ancillary data files that support the MOC SDP archive. These files include an index file ('imgindx.tab') that tabulates the contents of the CD and gives useful ancillary information, and documentation files. The CD is formatted according to the ISO 9660 level 1 Interchange Standard.
