Mission Name: AzurThis experiment was composed of two omnidirectional Geiger-Mueller counters used to detect protons especially after solar flares. The tubes were mounted perpendicular to one another on top of the satellite. The detector was designed to detect protons with energies E>30 MeV and E>12 MeV, but it was also capable of detecting electrons with energies E>3.2 MeV and E>0.7 MeV. The experiment worked normally until the spacecraft telemetry system malfunctioned in early July 1970.
