NSSDCA ID: 1983-051A-01
Mission Name: EXOSATThe instrument consisted of a large area proportional counter (ME) array of argon-filled counters, backed up by xenon-filled counters with an effective area of 1,800 sq cm, covering the energy range from 1.2 to 50 keV. The array was divided into four sections, each of which could be offset from the pointing direction to provide for a variable flat-top collimator response. The detectors had FOVs of 1.5 deg with an energy resolution of 20% at 6 keV for argon and 22 keV for xenon. The ME had a mass of 48 kg and consumed 17 W.
