Mission Name: Vega 1The objective of this investigation (TUNDE) was to study the solar wind interaction with the atmosphere and ionosphere of the Comet Halley. The instrument consisted of two semiconductor detectors plus an anti-coincidence scintillator to filter out particles from lateral directions. The device measured accelerated cometary ions in the energy range 20 keV to 20 MeV, and electrons from 175 keV to several MeV. The field of view was 30 deg, and the detector was oriented in the ecliptic plane.
