Mission Name: INTEGRALThe JEM-X instrument is a coded aperture mask X-ray monitor covering the range from 3 to 35 keV with a possible extension up to 100 keV which will operate simultaneously with the main gamma-ray instruments. JEM-X will have 3 arcmin spatial resolution and a spectral resolution of 1.5 keV at 10 keV. The aperture mask is located 3.2 m above the detector plane and the fully coded field of view is 4.8 degrees. The baseline photon detection system consists of two identical high-pressure (5 bar) imaging microstrip xenon gas chambers each with a total detection area of 500 square cm.
