STS 33 (Space Transportation System) was the ninth Discovery flight. On board were Commander Frederick Gregory, Pilot John Blaha, mission specialists Manley Carter, Franklin Musgrave, and Kathryn Thornton. This was a classified Department of Defense mission. Discovery's scheduled reentry was postponed from the night of November 26 to the following afternoon due to high winds at the Edwards AFB landing site. Continued strong crosswinds and tailwinds forced an additional one orbit delay and a last minute runway change following the deorbit burn. Mission duration was 120 hours 6 minutes 46 seconds.
