Galileo Probe

Telecommunications Description

Data from the Galileo probe are to be transmitted during the 60-75 minute time during which the probe is entering the Jovian atmosphere. The data will be uplinked to the orbiter, which will relay the data to the Deep Space Network. The communications subsystem transmits in two L-band microwave channels at 1387.0 MHz and 1387.1 MHz. Each is circularly polarized, one right-handed, the other left.
