NOTE: There is no on-site parking. NARA has recently added a guard at the entrance and a pass is required.

Meeting Room

The meeting on 13 and 14 October will take place in Lecture Rooms A-D. The Lecture rooms are down the stairs from the main lobby and to the right.

Security

You will not have to sign in or get a badge. From the main lobby, you may proceed directly down the stairs to the registration table and the meeting room. You should have pre-registered.

Presentation Support

Projectors from PCs or Macs, as well as overhead projectors should be available in all the meeting rooms. We do not anticipate having access to on-site copy facilities. Therefore, participants should arrange to bring copies of any materials they wish to distribute.

There is no fee for this workshop, but you must register.

Parking

The parking situation at NARA has very recently changed. On-site parking is no longer possible without a permit. There will be no parking available at NARA Archives II on October 13-15.

For those not from the local area, we recommend that you attempt to arrange shuttle service with your local hotel. Please check to ensure that a shuttle will be available when making your reservations and at hotel check in.

For those of you driving, we recommend that you park at the University of Maryland Stadium Drive Garage (see map) and catch the NARA shuttle. There will be a $3.00/day charge for parking (exit and re-entry not permitted). Signs wil direct you to a pay box on the third level where you may pay the $3.00 fee. The preferred form of payment is dollar bills.

The University of Maryland parking area is only for the Stadium Drive Parking Garage for the third level, numbered spaces. Parking on any other level may result in a ticket being issued to your vehicle by the University of Maryland. NARA and the conference sponsors will NOT be liable for any tickets issued to your vehicle.

Since the shuttle stop will be on the north side near the entrance, it is recommended that you enter the garage at the north entrance and park on the north side of the garage. There is an elevator and a stairwell on the north side that leads down to the ground level and the shuttle stop.

An AWIICS Shuttle will be available to transport workshop participants to the front entrance of the NARA Archives II Building. The AWIICS Shuttle will be a 15 passenger van with a sign in the window identifying it as the AWIICS Shuttle. It will operate in the morning (7:45-9:30), midday (11:00-1:00), and at the clsoe of the session (4:45-5:30) or until needed. The AWIICS shuttle will stop at the Stadium Garage is on the north side near the entrance on the ground level.

AWIICS participants may also use the NARA Shuttle. The NARA passenger van will operate during the hours of 5:45 am to 6:15 pm. The first departure will leave the stadium garage at approximately 5:50 am and the last departure from Archives II at approximately 6:10 pm. The shuttle will run continuously throughout the day between the Stadium Garage and Archives II. The shuttle will be a 15 passenger van identified by a "NARA Shuttle" sign in the window. The NARA shuttle will stop at the Stadium Garage is on the north side near the entrance on the ground level. It will transport people to the rear, employees only entrance of the Archives II Building. AWIICS participants who take this shuttle will need to walk around to the front entrance. An Archives employee will likely be available to escort individuals through the building to the NARA Shuttle, if they need to leave at times when the AWIICS Shuttle is not operating.

From the Capital Beltway (I-495/I-95):

  1. Exit 25 south (Rte. 1, Baltimore Blvd.) (Continue 1.1 miles.)
  2. Make a right turn at University Boulevard (Rte. 193). (Continue 1.3 miles to 2nd light.)
  3. Turn left on Stadium Drive. (Continue 0.1 mile.)
  4. Go 270 degrees around circle to Valley Drive.
  5. Proceed to North Entrance of Stadium Drive Parking Garage. (Continue 0.1 mile.)
  1. Exit 28 (New Hampshire Ave.)
  2. Make a left at Adelphi Road (second traffic light) (Continue 2.1 mile.) (Continue 0.8 mile past Archives II entrance which will be on the left.)
  3. Make a left turn at University Boulevard (Rte. 193). (Continue 0.5 mile to first light.)
  4. Turn right on Stadium Drive. (Continue 0.1 mile.)
  5. Go 270 degrees around circle to Valley Drive.
  6. Proceed to North Entrance of Stadium Drive Parking Garage. (Continue 0.1 mile.)
  1. Exit 29 east (Rte. 193, University Blvd.) (marked Langley Park/College Park) (Continue 3.9 miles.)
  2. Turn right on Stadium Drive. (Continue 0.1 mile.)
  3. Go 270 degrees around circle to Valley Drive.
  4. Proceed to North Entrance of Stadium Drive Parking Garage. (Continue 0.1 mile.)

From the Baltimore-Washington Parkway:

  1. Exit at Greenbelt Road (Rte. 193) toward College Park
  2. Continue on Greenbelt Road (which becomes University Boulevard) (Continue 4.2 miles.)
  3. Turn left on Stadium Drive. (Continue 0.1 mile.)
  4. Go 270 degrees around circle to Valley Drive.
  5. Proceed to North Entrance of Stadium Drive Parking Garage. (Continue 0.1 mile.)

MetroBus Service

MetroBus service is also available to NARA Archives II.

The R3 MetroBus serves the MetroRail (Washington subway) Green Line Stations at:

  • Greenbelt
  • Prince Georges Plaza
    The current R3 schedule show the bus leaving this stop at: 8 AM, 8:35 AM, 9:02 AM, 11 AM, 12 Noon and 1 PM. It takes about 11 minutes to get to Archives II from that stop.

The C8 MetroBus serves the MetroRail Red Line Station at:
  • Glenmont
