**** Participation Indication Deadline: January 21, 1998 ****

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THIS WORKSHOP:

You should participate in this workshop if you are willing to participate in this ongoing standards process by attending workshops and generating material to advance the Reference Model on archiving of information, with an emphasis on digital data.

Those who only want to critique the output of workshops or simply track the effort can do so by reviewing the material available on the WWW beginning at:

http://ssdoo.gsfc.nasa.gov/nost/isoas/us/overview.html

NOTE: WE ARE SCHEDULED FOR ISO DRAFT INTERNATIONAL STATUS (DIS) IN MAY 1998. WIDE REVIEW OVER THE NEXT SIX MONTHS IS HIGHLY DESIRABLE.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS WORKSHOP:

Registration to participate in this workshop is a two step process for those who have not participated previously. If you have participated previously, go to step 2 below. Otherwise, first register your interest in participating in the US effort and then register for this workshop.

  1. To register your interest in participating in this process use the WWW form at: http://ssdoo.gsfc.nasa.gov/nost/isoas/us/registration_form.html
    OR
Complete the attached process registration form. If you attended a previous US workshop or if you previously registered as a participant in the US efforts, you have already completed this step.

  2. After registering as a participant in the US process, complete the registration form for the Tenth US Workshop at: http://ssdoo.gsfc.nasa.gov/nost/isoas/us10/registration_form.html
    OR
send an E-mail or FAX message to Don Sawyer.

    E-mail: Donald.Sawyer@gsfc.nasa.gov
    FAX: 301 286-1771
    Phone: 301 286-2748

For planning purposes, we will require participants to complete their registration by January 21, 1998.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THIS WORKSHOP:

You should be reasonably familiar with the objectives and results from the previous workshops and particularly with the results of the Ninth US Workshop and the Fifth CCSDS/ISO Workshop. These materials are available on the WWW beginning at: http://ssdoo.gsfc.nasa.gov/nost/isoas/overview.html.

Updates to these pages occur frequently. In addition, see the new material under the Tenth US Workshop on the WWW beginning at: http://ssdoo.gsfc.nasa.gov/nost/isoas/us10/ws.html.

Also, a new version of the Reference Model concept paper incorporating results from the previous workshops and related contributions will be available on the WWW by January 21, 1998. Please see the References section on the US page for particularly interesting material.

If you have no reasonable way to get materials from the WWW, and you want copies, please let me know. We can make a limited amount of material available in other ways.
