Note: The CCSDS OAIS Reference Model Red Book (equivalent to the ISO Draft International Standard) is available for review. The OAIS RM Comment Forms are also available. Wide review over the next few months is highly desired.
The goal of this workshop is to prepare proposed responses to early comments on the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) Reference Model, which is out for review as an ISO Draft International Standard and as a CCSDS Red Book. As needed, other issues will be addressed regarding the development of materials to support development of draft ISO standards supporting the long term preservation of analog and digital information. The focus is the preservation of information obtained from observations of the terrestrial and space environments. However, preservation of information obtained from other environments is not precluded from these efforts.
You should participate in this workshop if you are willing to participate in this ongoing standards process by attending workshops and generating material to advance the Reference Model on archiving of information, with an emphasis on digital data.
Those who only want to critique the output of workshops or simply track the effort can do so by reviewing the material available on the WWW beginning at:
Registration to participate in this workshop is a two step process.
If you attended a previous US workshop or if you previously registered as a participant in the US efforts, you have already completed this step.
