Mars Polar Lander / Deep Space 2 News

The National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) has announced it may have found the Mars Polar Lander on the surface of Mars in images from Mars Global Surveyor. NASA and NIMA plan to work together to verify this. More information is available in the March 26, 2001 NASA press release

NASA has responded to UPI's story which charges that NASA knew about problems with the Mars Polar Lander propulsion system before the landing attempt and withheld the information from the public. NASA has denied the charge in a March 22, 2000 Press Release
