NEAR Eros Descent Image

[NEAR descent image of asteroid Eros]

NEAR Shoemaker's image of asteroid 433 Eros taken from a range of 820 feet (250 meters). The image is 39 feet (12 meters) across. The cluster of rocks at the upper right measures 5 feet (1.4 meters) across. Different amounts of burial of the rocks and boulders are evident.
