Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander

The Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander and Rover have been cancelled. The lander was designed to study soil and atmospheric chemistry and radiation at the martian surface with the Athena Precursor Experiment, or APEX, science package. It was to carry a rover, Marie Curie, which would have been deployed to study the immediate surroundings. These may be flown on future Mars missions.
