Pluto Kuiper Express

Work has been stopped on the Pluto Kuiper Express mission, which will be greatly deferred. It was designed to study Pluto and its moon Charon during a flyby in 2012 and to continue on to the Kuiper belt. Launch of the Pluto Kuiper Express was scheduled for December 2004. The Pluto Kuiper Express mission would have returned the first close up images of Pluto, Charon, and any Kuiper belt objects it encountered.
