Earth's Moon - Apollo 16

The Davy Crater chain on the Moon

Earth's Moon
Apollo 16 metric camera image of the Davy crater chain at lower right center. The chain extends about 50 km across the floor of the crater Davy Y, which is centered at about 11 S, 7 W. Below and left of Davy Y is Davy crater, 34 km in diameter and centered at 11.8 S, 8.1 W. The crater chain has been hypothesized to be volcanic, secondary impact craters, or craters due to multiple impacts from a Shoemaker-Levy 9 type object. North is up. (Apollo 16, AS16-1973)
