Europa - Voyager 2

Color image of Jupiter's moon Europa from 1.2 million km

Europa
Jupiter's satellite Europa as imaged from 1.2 million km by Voyager 2. This image was taken on 8 July 1979, about a day before the spacecraft's closest approach to Europa. Complex linear grooves and/or fractures are apparent in this view, which shows features as small as 20 km. The color is enhanced to bring out detail. Europa is over 3,100 km in diameter.
