Earth - Gemini 11

India and Sri Lanka from Gemini 11

Earth
Gemini 11 image of the southern tip of India showing the island of Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) and the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Note the U-shaped cloudline surrounding India, due to subsiding air in the off-shore sea breezes which inhibits cloud formation. The Gemini antenna mast is prominent in the picture at the left. India is roughly 700 km across at the center of the image and north is at 11:00. (Gemini 11, S66-54677)
