Gaspra - Galileo

Two color composite images of asteroid 951 Gaspra

Gaspra
Two color composite images of asteroid 951 Gaspra taken by the Galileo spacecraft. The image on the left shows Gaspra in approximately true color. On the right the colors have been exaggerated to reveal differences in possible surface composition. The visible part of Gaspra in these is roughly 16 x 12 km. The pictures were created from images taken through the violet, green and infrared filters from a distance of 16,000 km. North is at 10:30. (Galileo, P-39508Ac)
