The Moon - Lunar Orbiter 3

Northwestern rim of Tsiolkovsky crater on the moon.

The Moon
High-resolution Lunar Orbiter 3 view of the northwestern rim of Tsiolkovsky crater on the moon. The rim crest is in the lower right corner. The diagonal banding is probably the result of a giant lunar avalanche down the rim slope. A larger view of Tsiolkovsky crater is given in LO3-M121. The image is about 50 km across and north is up.
