Psyche Crater on Eros

Eros
This mosaic of images taken by the NEAR-Shoemaker spacecraft shows the 5 km diameter Psyche crater on near-Earth asteroid 433 Eros. Features as small as 20 meters can be resolved. A large boulder can be seen near the bottom of the crater. Note the distinctive bright patches on the walls of the crater. A number of grooves can also be seen radiating from the right of the crater. The images were taken on 14 February 2000 from about 330 km. Psyche Crater is centered at 32 N, 95 W and the Sun is shining from the northeast. Eros is about 33 x 13 x 13 km in size.
