Mosaic of central region of Eros

Eros
This picture is a mosaic of four images of the central region of near-Earth asteroid 433 Eros. The images were taken from orbit at an altitude of 100 km on 9 September 2000. Eros' "saddle" region is towards the top of the image. At upper right is a large groove. The bright area towards the left is a topographic rise. Left of this rise is the most boulder-rich area on the asteroid. Eros is roughly 13 km wide. This mosaic was produced from images 143707341, 143707256, 143707426, and 143707511.
