Saturn's Rings - Voyager 1

Mosaic of Saturn's rings from 8 million km

Saturn's Rings
Mosaic of 2 Voyager 1 images showing Saturn's complex ring system. These shots, taken from 8 million km, show about 95 individual ringlets. The 14th satellite of Saturn is visible as a small point at upper left, just outside the narrow R-ring. Each frame in this mosaic is approximately 60,000 km across, and the visible rings span about 65,000 km from the inner C-ring to the outer F-ring. North is at 10:30 (Voyager 1, P-23064)
