Neptune - Voyager 2

Clear filter view of Neptune's "Scooter" from 4.4 million km

Neptune
Voyager 2 image of the cloud feature on Neptune known as the "Scooter". The Scooter is the large bright feature at lower left, centered at about 42 S latitude. It is composed of bands of clouds which changed appearance over the course of the encounter. This image was taken through the clear filter of the narrow angle camera from a distance of roughly 4.4 million km. The frame is about 32,500 km across and north is up. (Voyager 2, 11305.00)
