Hydaspis Chaos and Tiu Vallis, Mars

Mars
This Viking 1 Orbiter image of Mars shows Tiu Vallis on the left and Hydaspis Chaos on the right. Hydaspis is chaotic terrain almost 100 km wide. Tiu Vallis emerges from this terrain as a 50 km wide channel displaying lineated bedforms and teardrop- shaped islands which extends to the north for 1000 km to Chryse Planitia. The frame is about 80 km across, and north is at ~11:30. (Viking Orbiter 083A37)
