Total Magnetic Field Magnitude and Components (Digitized)

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Time span: 1971-07-31 to 1972-09-20

This collection consists of digitized microfilm frames containing 30 or 60 min of data. Three- or six-sec average values of magnetic field magnitude and of each of 3 Cartesian components are plotted per frame. The coordinate system used has the X-axis normal to the local surface, and the Y- and Z-axis normal to X and directed eastward and northward, respectively. There are very few data gaps.

For this digitization effort the NSSDCA scanned the source microfilm collection PSFP-00222 at a resolution of 400 dots per inch and output each frame on the film as one TIFF file. The NSSDCA also combined groups of these TIFF images into multipage PDF files to facilitate browsing. Both formats are included in this collection.
