Plots of Magnetic Field Components (Digitized)

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Time span: 1962-08-29 to 1962-10-31

This collection consists of digitized microfilm frames containing data plots prepared by the experimenter. Each frame contains 2 h of data with data points presented every 36.96 s. The plots on each frame, from top to bottom, give approximate projections of the measured magnetic field on the solar equatorial plane and on a perpendicular plane containing the sun direction. A third graph gives the measured magnetic field magnitude and Mariner 2 plasma velocity data supplied by Dr. M. Neugebauer. These data, which are time ordered, cover approximately 70% of the period from 29 August 1962 to 31 October 1962.

For this digitization effort the NSSDCA scanned the source microfilm collection PSFP-00027 at a resolution of 400 dots per inch and output each frame on the film as one TIFF file. The NSSDCA also combined groups of these TIFF images into multipage PDF files to facilitate browsing. Both formats are included in this collection.
