Solar System Visualization Collection

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

This data set consists of computer-generated video sequences, many developed by JPL's Data Visualization Lab, from several missions, including Galileo, Voyager, Ulysses, Magellan, and Nimbus 7, for the International Space Year (ISY). Many of the sequences are simulated flights over a solar system surface (e.g., Triton, Venus, Mars), several are time-lapse sequences of atmospheric phenomena (e.g., TOMS observations of the Earth's ozone hole or Voyager observations of Jupiter's atmospheric motion), and others are overviews of the mission. Many of these videos have been released before as press release or publicity videos. Some are available as separately requested data sets, too, for example the Magellan sequences (data set PSPG-00515) and the Nimbus 7 sequences (ESAC-00036 and ESAC-00052). These videos are available in both PAL and NTSC formats.
