NSSDCA ID: PSPA-00418
Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Electronic Access
This data set was reformatted from the original binary data set PSFP-00118 in December 2006 by NSSDC as part of the Lunar Data Restoration project. The data were put into CDF format for easier access and use. This data set contains 28-s resolution plasma parameters (mainly of the solar wind) as observed on the moon at the Apollo 12 ALSEP site. This is the highest resolution data set available from the SWS instrument.
Contained in each record are time, proton density, alpha-to-proton ratio, bulk speed, angle of flow, most probable thermal speed, and various housekeeping and fit parameters relating to the reliability of the calculated plasma parameters.
During the local lunar night there is no solar wind signal so there are data gaps of about 15 days each lunation.
The data set is available for user-selected plotting or data download at NSSDC's interactive CDAWeb site:
http://cdaweb.gsfc.nasa.gov/cdaweb/lunar/under the source "Apollo". The data are also available as PDS data sets, see:
