Simbay Panoramic Photographic Support Data Supplement on Microfiche

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Time span: 1972-12-10 to 1972-12-17

This data set consists of microfiche of supplementary supporting data for the simbay photographic equipment aboard Apollo 17. The equipment includes the panoramic camera, the mapping camera and its subcomponents, the laser altimeter. The supporting data include pre-mission calibrations, exposure times for each photograph, and a brief summary of mission results for these experiments. The summary of mission results notes that the proper stellar camera frame number corresponding to the mapping camera frame number is determined by subtracting 18 from the mapping camera frame number. Preceding the data information are some remarks about the performances of the equipment. The sections of data are -- mapping camera subsystem data block information (frame no., exposure times, and altitude), explanations of data terms, laser altimeter operations, panoramic camera exposure times, photographic ephemeris, Apollo 17 timing system with tables of conversion from the Apollo timing system to ut, photographic operations, burns and events, and camera calibration data for each camera and laser altimeter.
