High Frequency Teleseismic Event Compressed Scale Playouts on 16-mm Mfilm

This data set consists of 16-mm microfilmed compressed scale plots of high-frequency teleseismic (HFT) events with large amplitudes on the short period components of the passive seismic network. These events are considered to be distant moonquakes. The absolute value of the difference between consecutive data points is summed over 40 points for the long period data (320 points for the short period data), and this value is plotted yielding one value for each 6 seconds of data. Consecutive points are plotted with opposite polarity to yield a line with the appearance of a seismogram. Components are arranged LPX, LPY, LPZ, SPZ, with long period X at the top and short period Z at the bottom. Time ticks are displayed every 10 minutes and each hour (UT) is labeled. The year and day are displayed every 6 hr. These plots are esed to determine start and stop times of the selected seismic events.
