Time History Compressed Plots on Microfilm

NSSDCA ID: PSPG-00328

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Description

This data set, microfilmed plots of hard copy provided by the experimenter, consists of the complete time history of the Apollo 17 LSPE data for the period August 15, 1976, through April 25, 1977. The seismic data from the four geophones were compressed and plotted in parellel at a time scale of 90 mm/h. The compression method used was obtained by taking the absolute value of the difference between every fifth log-compressed amplitude value and summing over 48 samples. This yields one value for each 10.2 s of data. This was plotted at a scale of 630 LDU/cm (log-decompressed amplitude unit/cm). The LDU is obtained from the formula LDU=sgn(x-63.5) * exp (0.1427(x-63.5)) where x is the log compressed amplitude in digital units.
