Mapping Camera Photography Support Data (Digitized)

NSSDCA ID: PSPG-00934

Availability: Data Identified but not Received

Time span: 1971-07-31 to 1971-08-03

Description

This collection consists of digitized microfilm frames containing support data for the mapping (metric) camera photography from the Apollo 15 mission. For each photograph the following data are supplied -- date, time, state vectors, longitude and latitude of nadir point, sigmas of longitude and latitude of nadir point, longitude azimuth and latitude of camera axis intersect, spacecraft radius and altitudes, sigma of spacecraft radius, azimuth of velocity vector, horizontal velocity, mean altitude rate, tilt azimuth and tilt angle and their sigmas, sun elevation and azimuth at principal ground point, longitude and latitude of subsolar point, alpha, swing angle and its sigma, emission angle, north deviation angle, phase angle, phi and its sigma, X-tilt, Y-tilt, and it sigma, kappa and its sigma, heading and its sigma, omega and it sigma, scale factor, laser slant range, laser spacecraft altitude, and altitude difference. In addition, physical constants such as local lunar radius, gravitational constant, and ephemeris-universal time scale factor are given.

For this digitization effort the NSSDCA scanned the source microfilm collection PSPG-00100 at a resolution of 400 dots per inch and output each frame on the film as one TIFF file. The NSSDCA also combined groups of these TIFF images into multipage PDF files to facilitate browsing. Both formats are included in this collection.

These support data are available as ASCII tables in this peer-reviewed PDS data set: https://pds-geosciences.wustl.edu/lunar/urn-nasa-pds-a15photosupportdata/
