Jupiter Color Imagery

NSSDCA ID: PSSB-00016

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Time span: 1974-11-29 to 1974-12-06

Description

This data set, supplied by the investigator, consists of color negatives from Pioneer 11 obtained by the Imaging Photopolarimeter experiment (IPP). The Imaging Photopolarimeter gathered data using the red and blue components of the light reflected from Jupiter. Reconstructing images by using the red and blue produced a purple image; however, it was possible to synthesize a green image so that, when all the images were composited, an adequate color image was produced.
