Stardust SPICE Files (PDS)

NSSDCA ID: PSSB-00061

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Description

This data set contains the navigation and ancillary data for the Stardust spacecraft in the form of SPICE system kernal files. The SPICE kernel files contain geometric and other ancillary information needed to recover the full value of science instrument data. In particular SPICE kernels provide spacecraft and planetary ephemerides, instrument mounting alignments, spacecraft orientation, spacecraft sequences of events, data needed for certain time conversions, etc. The SPICE data covers the spacecraft cruise and the asteroid 5535 AnneFrank and comet 81P/Wild 2 encounters.

The SPICE Toolkit contains NAIF (Navigation and Ancillary Information Facility) software modules needed to read SPICE kernel files. The latest SPICE Toolkit for a variety of computer platforms such as PC, Mac, SUN, HP, SGI, VAX, DEC Alpha, etc. is available at the NAIF Node of PDS electronically (via anonymous FTP and WWW servers). Each version of the Toolkit is also archived at the NASA National Space Science Data Center. These data are PDS data set SDU-C-SPICE-6-V1.0 and are held on DVD volume SDSP_1000. They are available online at:
