Arecibo Pre-Archive Planetary Radar Data

NSSDCA ID: PSSB-03668

Availability: Data Identified but not Received

Time span: 1997-01-01 to 2020-08-10

Description

This data set contains the pre-PDS-archive backup of raw and processed data acquired by the Arecibo Observatory planetary radar system from 1997 through the end of data taking in 2020. The data do not comply with Planetary Data System (PDS) archiving standards. This archive is permanently stored at the NSSDCA. Requests for the data should be made through the NSSDCA Coordinated Request and User Support Office.

The pre-archive planetary radar data consist mostly of asteroid observations and include other planetary targets, such as Saturn satellites and Mercury, as well as some non-Arecibo data. Data are FITS files or binary .rdf files, a radar format. This archive also contains ancillary files associated with various stages of Arecibo data collection. The data in general are organized by target designation and combined in large tar sets of entire filesystems.
