NSSDCA ID: SPIO-00033

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Electronic Access

Description

This data set includes the electron density and temperature measurements from the Plasma Probes that flew on the Japanese Hinotori satellite (height: 600 km; inclination: 31) . The PI-provided data are given as monthly files from February 1981 to June 1982 in ASCII format. More information about the insturment and data can be found in the following papers: K-I.Oyama, Electron temperature measurements carried out by Japanese scientific satellites, Advances in Space Research, Volume 11, Number 10, p149-158, 1991; K.-I. Oyama, K. Schlegel, and S. Watanabe, Temperature structure of plasma bubbles in the low latitude ionosphere areound 600 km altitude, Planetary and Space Science, Vol. 36, 553-567, 1988. Subsetting and plotting capabilities are provided through the ATMOWeb interface at

http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/atmoweb/

The data are also available from NSSDC's anonymous ftp site at
