NSSDCA ID: PSPG-00221

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Description

This data set is a book (in Russian) titled "Atlas of the Reserse Side of the Moon, Part 3." The book treats the processing, reduction and analysis of the Zond 6, 7, and 8 series of lunar mission photography with only a few photographs. No features or areas are identified for any of the photographs. The chapters have the following titles -- (1) photographic experiments aboard Zond 6, 7, and 8, (2) selenocentric coordinate system, eastern sector of the reverse side of the moon, (3) unitary system of selenodetic coordinates of 2900 points on the visible hemisphere of the moon, (4) planned selenodetic framework for the opposite hemisphere of the moon, (5) cartometric investigation of both sides of the moon, (6) photometric investigation of the reverse side of the moon, (7) photometric maps of the eastern sector of the reverse side of the moon, appendix 1 - biographical sketches of scientists and selenologists for whom crates were named on the reverse side of the moon, appendix 2 - Zond 8 photographs of the lunar surface. Most of the Zond 8 photographs deposited at NSSDC are portions of these photographs in appendix 2. The NSSDC-generated index indicates which atlas photos encompass the deposited photos. In the atlas these are maps and photos with several hundred numbers on them and these numbers correspond to those listed in table 2 of the atlas.
