This data set consists of a book published in Russian. The book contains photographs obtained by the Russian spacecraft Luna 3 during a 40 minute flyby of the Moon at a distance of 68,400 Km, on October 7, 1959. Because of the dynamics of the flight, all of the photographs are of the far side of the Moon. In addition to the photographs, the book contains sections on: (1) processing of photographs; (2) formations on the far side; and, (3) a presentation of the 30 actual photographs. The section on formations on the far side gives serial number, formation and name, frame number, photometric cross-section, identification, description, and coordinates. This data set is available at NSSDC for viewing or may, under special circumstances, be borrowed. It may also be obtained on microfiche, but the quality will be limited.
