Apollo 15 Heat Flow - Thermal Conductivity Data, Reformatted to ASCII (LDP)

This collection, PSPG-00752, is a reformatted version of the original HFE dataset PSPG-00093. A PDS-validated archive version can be found online at:

Under "Apollo 15 - Thermal Conductivity". It covers measurements taken by the Apollo 15 heat flow probes from 31 July 1971 to 31 December 1974. The PDS-validated data set is the recommended data for research.

This collection consists of a single tar file, whose contents are: 1. five data files from each of the HFE probes of the Apollo 15 Heat Flow Experiment (ten files total); 2. a README file; 3. a file containing the Fortran source code for the program that reformatted the data; and 4. the Data Set Catalog DSC-210, which contains information provided by the data set provider on the data formats and other details pertinent to the proper use and understanding of the data.

The data files are written in ASCII with record sizes of three or seven words, and logical records containing only fill data have been eliminated. The program and the README file are in plain ASCII text, while the Data Set Catalog is in PDF format.

Three parameters: time, temperature, and delta temperature, are given for the upper section gradient bridge, lower section gradient bridge, upper section ring bridge, and lower section ring bridge, in files 1, 2, 4, 5 respectively. File 3 contains time, heater state -- an integer between 1 and 16 converted to real mode, reference bridge temperature, and the four thermocouple temperatures for each probe cable.
