High Resolution 0.167-Second Magnetic Field Vectors, in ASCII, GZIP

NSSDCA ID: SPHE-00268

Description

This ASCII data set contains ISEE3/ICE Magnetometer data at high resolution (six vectors per second). This data set was converted from the original UCLA flat-file pair format (binary data file and ASCII header file) by NSSDC, then compressed by GZIP. In addition, data files were shortened from the original four days per file to 1/4 day per file for this data set. All data items were kept. The data items, in order, are: Year; Day of year; Hour; Minute; Seconds; BX; BY; BZ; BT.

The magnetic field, in NT, is given in Solar Ecliptic coordinates, where +Z is the northward perpendicular to the Ecliptic and +X is in the direction from the spacecraft to the Sun. BT is the field magnitude; since these data are not averaged, BT is just the magnitude of the vector (BX,BY,BZ).

The original data set from which these data were converted is archived under the ID 78-079A-02Q.

The data are available on-line at http://spdf.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/data/isee/isee3/magnetic_fields/ under directory 0.16sec_ascii_gz/
