Description

Oscar 1 carried 1 100-mw battery-operated telemetry tracking beacon transmitter which operated at 144.98 mHz. This signal, continuously transmitted, was received and reported over 5000 times by 600 amateur radio stations located in 28 different countires. The transmitter was battery driven, and provided signals which were recieved for about 3 weeks after launch.
