Mission Name: Zond 5The proton measuring equipment consisted of two instruments. The first was a sandwich of two silicon lithium drifted detectors, one of which operated in anticoincidence with the other. The geometrical factor was 3.9 cm sq-ster. This instrument detected protons in the energy ranges 1.5 to 10 MeV and 10 to 21 MeV. The second instrument was a telescope of two identical silicon lithium drifted detectors. The cone angle was 100 deg. The telescope measured protons only, with energies in the ranges 30 to 35 MeV and 45 to 50 MeV. As the spacecraft spun, the instruments scanned mainly in a plane perpendicular to the ecliptic plane. See Konstantinov et al., Acta Physica Acad Sci. Hung., 29, Suppl. 2, 195-197, 1970.
